Garmin 4012 Test

Garmin GPSMap 4012 on my test bench, connected to a 17" PC monitor.

Don't mind the other stuff in the background, it's just electronics and radio transceivers.

The Garmin GPSMap 4012 is a 12" chart plotter with NMEA-2000 and NMEA 0183 capabilities.

Here they are connected together with the 17" monitor as a slave monitor. Quite a difference in readability, especially within a distance of 1 to 2 meters (yards).

Test set-up:
The Garmin GPSMap 4012 plotter is set up in demo mode, that is a pre-programmed route is defined, and the Garmin unit is programmed to follow this route with 25 knots.

The monitor is performing well, the image is sharp and bright. The monitor is supposed to be installed on board Envida, a 30' Mørejet HT craft.

Garmin GPSmap 4012 is here show with yellow terrain but is capable to overlay terrain with topological maps and pictures / graphics.
